EMIE at NFER was established some 24 years ago to enable local authority education officers and advisers/inspectors to exchange information on education management policy and practice, and now provides a range of information services to local authority staff working in or with education and children's services. It serves all local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the majority of those in Scotland. Information is regularly collected via a network of contacts in local authorities to provide a unique database of document records which is accessible to all users of the EMIE website.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead, manage and develop EMIE at NFER ensuring its capacity to support the work of local authorities through the provision of a range of information services in the areas of education and children's services, develop, review and deliver EMIE at NFER's strategic objectives in the context of NFER objectives and local authority needs; set targets for service performance and extending the client group; lead customer focussed change process within a complex organisational and local government environment.
The successful candidate will have strong management capabilities, excellent communication skills and an in-depth knowledge of information services and the local authority and UK education and children's services agenda.
