Senior Library Assistant
Clerical Grade 5, full-time
Fixed term for one year
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Special Collections team in the
University of Sussex Library for a one year project working with the Rare
Books Collections . The post is supported by funds from the Research
Support Library Programme for improving access to research collections and
will start as soon as possible.
One of the key responsibilities of the post will be the transfer of data
about the rare books to the Library catalogue and promoting their use
through the web pages, presentations and visits. In addition, the post-
holder will contribute to the wider work of the Special Collections team.
The post holder will be expected to have good IT skills, including basic
web-editing, experience of working with valuable and rare material
(preferably rare books), database skills and cataloguing skills. Good oral
and written communication skills, experience of staff supervision and
ability to work in a team are also essential.
The post holder will report to the Deputy Archivist.
