Umbrella 2005 is set to be the Library Event of the Year

Early bird booking deadline of 31 May sparks strong support

Strong delegate bookings are being received for CILIP's Umbrella 2005 event
as the early booking deadline of 31 May 2005 approaches. It is anticipated
that more than 600 library and information professionals will attend to make
it the library event of the year.

Presented at The University of Manchester from 30 June to 2 July, Umbrella
2005 comprises a major multi-stream conference, an associated exhibition of
products and services and a comprehensive social programme. The event's theme
is 'Tackling the key issues together', and full details are on its website at
www.umbrella2005.org.uk

This biennial event will be presented by CILIP: the Chartered Institute of
Library and Information Professionals - and includes a plethora of new
features. These include the first Umbrella Awards Evening, an Information
Lounge with an Internet Café and Wi-Fi Hotspot, and a series of Showcase
Presentations by suppliers.

Each delegate can plan a personalised programme by choosing from the nine
seminar streams that form the basis for 54 separate presentations by 25 of
CILIP's Special Interest Groups on a wide range of topical subjects. There is
also a comprehensive social programme to encourage networking.

Keynote speaker in the Plenary Session on Friday 1st July is Michael Gorman,
newly elected president of the American Library Association. He will travel
directly from the ALA's annual conference in Chicago to deliver the first
major speech of his presidency at Umbrella 2005 titled 'Changing time,
enduring values'.

Delegates can either register at www.umbrella2005.org.uk, or call the CILIP
Conferences Team on 020 7255 0543/4, or email [log in to unmask]
<Mailto:[log in to unmask]> for a Delegate Brochure and Booking Form.
