Philip,
I would agree entirely that we would not want to get into loading holdings
onto a vendor's system. We would not want the workload, and I am not sure
about the desirability of giving some commercial organisation what is
potentially useful market info about our subscriptions.
We have not looked into what is required for 'literature linking' on Google
Scholar, so interested in comments from others. However, we did experiment
a little with using Firefox and some of the functionality in there to link
through from Google Scholar, to our own subs, and it worked rather nicely
on individual staff machines. However, it is not an option for us, at
least at the moment, as our campus wide browser is internet explorer. But I
have seen a number of messages from US, indicating that others have been
considering using Firefox instead. Has anyone else tried out the Firefox
functionality? (I'll look for the email/instructions I picked up on this).
