As some list members will know, the e-measures project
(http://www.ebase.uce.ac.uk/emeasures/emeasures.htm) examined the problems
of usage statistics through a pilot data collection exercise with 25
libraries, particularly to help with the annual returns required by SCONUL.
Those involved all found it hard going and difficult to gather meaningful
comprehensive figures. I'm not sure there has yet been any public report,
but I'll check.
One other development is the forthcoming ScholarlyStats subscription service
from MPS Technologies (part of Macmillan):
http://www.mpstechnologies.com/scholarlystats.htm. This has been in beta
testing for a while. (Any US members of the list going to ALA in Chicago can
find out more there.)
