I actually meant does Heron do sound permissions at all - nothing to do with this blanket digitisation licence. Obviously...

RE: Free event - Implications of the proposed CLA Blanket Digitisation
Licence for HEHi Ben,
To clarify the situation for the list, the event is aimed at HE institutions
who will be eligible to use the licence. I will discuss the possibility of
opening it up to a wider audience (space permitting) with one of my
colleagues on Monday.
We plan to have an external speaker to talk about the proposed licence, and
then we'll talk about how HERON will be working in the context of the
licence. (The speaker is not from the CLA - they are aware we're running
this but are not attending). Since the licence doesn't cover the copying of
sound recordings, I don't plan to say anything at all on that subject :-)
Best wishes,
Helen

Digitisation Licence for HE
Dear Helen
Thanks very much for this, it should be really interesting for me as it
may have an impact on British Library business. Although not strictly HE is
it OK to attend?
I was interested to hear your talk on Tuesday. I am presuming that you
stay well clear of sound permissions?

Digitisation Licence for HE
Apologies for cross-posting.
HERON (www.heron.ingenta.com) is holding a series of free events to inform
the Higher Education community of the implications of the CLA's Trial
Blanket Digitisation Licence for HE, and to demonstrate the services that
HERON can offer to help HEIs make the most of the licence whilst staying
within its terms.
The three Roadshow events will be held on:
Monday 27th June: Stirling University 1.30-4.30pm
Tuesday 28th June: Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative
Studies
1.30-4.30pm
Wednesday 29th June: University of Westminster 1.30-4.30pm
HERON staff will be present to answer your questions and an external
speaker
is expected at each event as well.
These events are open to all interested HE staff, but spaces are limited
and
will be allocated on a first come first served basis (one delegate per
institution in the first instance, subject to demand).
To book your place, please send an email to [log in to unmask] with
'Roadshow' as the subject heading.
Further details will be sent to delegates nearer the time.
