Subject: RSC Web-site URLs
Posted on behalf of Phil Abrahams, Royal Society of Chemistry.
The RSC is in the process of upgrading its web site in order to provide
better access to its content for our customers. The new web site will be
launched next week. (I apologise for the lack of notice but it has only
just come to light that an earlier transmission of this message failed.)
The process of creating the new web site will entail creating a completely
new directory structure for the server files and therefore the URLs of the
individual journal home pages will change when we move to the new web site.
Some years ago we publicised a series of short-cuts URLs which take
customers to journal home pages. These short-cuts will be rerouted to the
journal home pages on the new web site, so if you have used these short-
cuts in your online library systems you need take no action.
However, if you have used the direct URLs in your journal systems you need
to know that these will not work once the new web site is launched. There
is a list of the short-cut URLs on the existing RSC web site at:
www.rsc.org/is/journals/URLs.xls
I hope these changes of URL will not inconvenience you and your customers.
The new RSC web site should significantly benefit customers by offering
better data discovery options and increase speed of access to content. The
change will also put RSC in a position to make significant developments in
the delivery of its products and services in the future.
Regards,
