Dear All,
Some time ago I canvassed opinion regarding other institutions'
practise/views on the use of single or separate records for electronic and
print versions of titles. The response demonstrated that this is an area
under discussion for many. A number of people expressed interest in what
decision the LSE made. Views and practice were mixed as you might expect -
there are pros and cons of both solutions.
The upshot of our investigations and discussion within our own eResources
Discovery Group is that we have opted to use separate records for
electronic and print records. There are a number of provisos and exceptions
which we still have to address.
Attached is a summary of our reasoning. Obviously it is a decision made to
address the local situation and other institutions will come to different
conclusions.
Thank you to everyone who responded. The amount of detail you provided was
extremenly valuable.
Regards
Sally
