I am not quite up-to-date on this particular issue, but to the best of
my knowledge, WN installation includes Globus, LCG2 uses Globus from
VDT, and that one is release 2.4.3, and it does not build on Opterons.
GT3 pre-WS builds on 64bit, but I'm not aware of anybody using it for LCG.

This is rather new: I haven't heard of a validated ATLAS s/w on a SuSE 9
with a 64bit processor. On SuSE 9 yes, but not on 64bit. But perhaps I'm
outdated here as well. I know of one cluster just like yours, but they
were running ATLAS Data Challenges in the virtual RH7.3 environment (via
chroot). They were very efficient, I must say.

Umea folks did it, without much extra hassle AFAIK, but they have a
32bit architecture, and a well validated ATLAS s/w (they did officially
contribute to ATLAS Data Challenges with it).
Not sure it helps...
