re your slide 6, I would not say that a resource problem implies that
someone "really needs the whole machine". This is because the whole
machine could be a single P4 machine, or it could be a dual-core dual-cpu
machine. I think we need to know what resources are required, then
depending on the hardware available they may be supplied on one or several
distinct machines, or virtual machines as you rightly pointed out.
I also think that experiments should be requested to collaborate on
setting up a pilot VO box at a single Tier 1 or at CERN to resolve
questions of resources and co-existence, before we are asked to go and buy
a load of PCs.
