I am about to set my queues to draining in preparation for an upgrade
next week, then i see a note on the gridpp faq page that i must notify
the GOC 24 hours in advance of doing this, otherwise it's unscheduled
downtime.
My question is: WHY??
- jobs already running are not affected and continue to run
- our RB and BDII are up, running, and can be used ... they
just won't match NIKHEF but otherwise work fine
- our SE is up and all data can be accessed
- VO LDAP is up and running and can be used
- etc etc etc
The site is not down, it's just temporarily not accepting new jobs. I
can understand that I need downtime while upgrading, because services
will truly be inaccessible, and any jobs still running at the time of
the upgrade will be lost.
