Hi,
you stumbled over one of the historical peculiarities in the grid world.
The rls that comes with VDT is based on an early development of the
edg WP2 RLS, but it is not to be confused with the edg RLS that has
been there at the
end of edg and is now part of the LCG releases. Both have different
APIs and slightly different architecture.
The VDT RLS is used by grid3/OSG and having the client libs around
on LCG is one of the steps needed to allow the two grids to
interoperate.
Before starting a port of this lib it might be a good idea to contact
the OSG people, it might be that they ported this already.
