Hi Serge,
MPI jobs within a single cluster work correctly in LCG2.4. The
current biomedical data challenge is using it and at least all
those sites have MPI enabled and verified. There may be some
remaining problem with compiling MPI binaries, though.
Just try mpirun and it should work. If you don't have the MPI
RPMs yet, you can get them from
http://grid-deployment.web.cern.ch/grid-deployment/gis/apt/LCG-2_4_0/en/i386/RPMS.lcg_sl3/mpich-1.2.6-1.sl3.cl.i386.rpm
http://grid-deployment.web.cern.ch/grid-deployment/gis/apt/LCG-2_4_0/en/i386/RPMS.lcg_sl3/mpiexec-0.77-3.sl3.i386.rpm
for some reason I cannot find these in the 2_5_0 release...
(will they be in 2.6.0?)
On a related thread: it seems that (as long as all your nodes
are on public IP space and have plenty of both inbound and outbound
connectivity) even MPICH-G2 across different clusters will work
using the CrossGrid LCG2.3 MPICH-G2 RPM at
http://savannah.fzk.de/distribution/crossgrid/releases/allfiles/7.3/cg/external/mpich-g2-1.2.6-lcg23_cg1.i386.rpm
even on RHEL3-based systems.
Cheers,
DavidG.
