Hello Maniel,
SFT2 is using new notification method directly from WN to the MONBOX
at CERN (lxb2001.cern.ch - so called SFT server), so that the results
of individual tests are available as soon as it is possible bypassing
the delay introduced by job submission mechanism. Of course the most
obvious way to do this would be to use an existing monitoring
infrastructure like R-GMA. But I want to be as independent of grid
middlewere and grid configuration as possible so that is why I am
using my own web service for the notification.
As a consequence, SFT are using for the time being non-standard port
8082 to lxb2001.cern.ch. My tests before announcing SFT2 showed that
only 4 sites out of 142 are failing with this notification mechanism.
Two of them because of missing SOAP::Lite perl module and two of them
because of firewall problem. In fact the only thing I need for this
notification to work is outbound connectivity from WN on port 8082. I
don't want to push site administrators to open yet another hole in
their firewalls. I'd rather check in our current list of required
ports if there is something that I could use for SFT on a monbox
without conflicts. The less required ports the better it is for
security :)
So, I'll check what can be done, and possibly I'll change this port
to something else.
