My ability to read awk is far from perfect, but what I got from the
snippet posted earlier was that YAIM takes the first non-sgm account in
the VO group, strips off trailing digits and uses the rest as the base
name. If that's right then YAIM does require numbered pool accounts (or
at least the first one has to be numbered!).
As a general point it seems to me that that kind of trick with awk (or
indeed perl) is likely to be fragile, and if it fails it will be very
hard to predict the outcome.
