Dear all
CoLIS5 is the fifth in the series of international conferences whose
general aim is to provide a broad forum for critically exploring and
analysing research in areas such as computer science, information
science and library science. The theme for CoLIS 5 will be the nature,
impact and role of context within information-centred research,
particularly in information seeking and retrieval.
EPSRC, The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, has
kindly provided sponsorship to allow 12 UK-based students to attend
CoLIS5 which will take place in Glasgow from 4th-9th June 2005.

Student bursaries cover the following:
* Registration to attend the main conference sessions (Mon-Wed)
including conference proceedings, conference dinner and social events
* Registration to attend one of the conference tutorials or
workshops of the student's choice
* Accommodation in one of the conference hotels for the nights
Friday 3rd June to Thursday 9th June, i.e. 7 nights. This will cover bed
and breakfast accommodation only, additional expenses will be covered by
the student attendee. The choice of conference hotel will be made by the
conference organisers.
* Contribution to travel costs to attend the conference. CoLIS5
will contribute a maximum of £100 pounds to the travel of each student
who is awarded a bursary. This will be refunded after the conference.
In addition, EPSRC will act as sponsor for a dedicated Doctoral Forum.
Students who wish to attend the Doctoral Forum should apply separately
(see conference web pages for details).
Regulations
* Students who wish to apply for a student bursary to attend CoLIS5
should send an email to Ian Ruthven Ian.Ruthven @ cis.strath.ac.uk
giving the information outlined below. Your supervisor should also send
an email to Ian Ruthven confirming your student status. Applications for
which no confirmation is received will be rejected.
* Applications for a student bursary should be received by 7th
March 2005, decisions by will announced on 23rd March 2005.
* Eligible students are those who are registered for a postgraduate
degree in a UK educational institution, irrespective of the student's
nationality.
* The conference organising committee will select those students to
be awarded a bursary. Preference will be given to those students
presenting or submitting a paper to the main conference or one of the
post-conference workshops.
