At a similar age, our daughters stayed in a family house in the Isle of
Man, a large elderly pile with as it happens, a Secret Garden and a few
other bits (no lake but there were some Swallows). They knew well that
my uncle was at the time a senior academic in a university.
In one room was an old wooden (Mahogany rather than Apple, but hey)
wardrobe of considerable dimensions[1], which happened to contain fur
coats...
In the course of exploring a little exchange floated down the hall,
relating to the coats, and the inadvisability of closing the door...
They had a good holiday.
[1] 3 large ones, to be precise, considering the context.
