I have been tasked by my LIS board to tackle the issue that we have received
virtually no documentation in our practice regarding our N3 installation. We
apparently should have received a pack which detailed what had been
installed, gave contact telephone numbers, etc.
I also have no idea currently what speed ADSL line (upload and download) has
been installed. And is everyone aware that BT apply a "throttleback" on the
ADSL line which reduces the speed - the formula is worked out on a basis
which counts numbers of users (I think) rather than historic data usage. So
I suspect as a heavy data user (all those MS service packs...) but two
doctor practice I suspect we may have been penalised in this respect.
Please could list members let me know what documentation they have received,
and also what information they have been given as to the ADSL line
installed, and also any throttleback applied (I consider the latter to be a
nonsense - how on earth could anyone in the prgramme agree to allow BT to
provide a knobbled service?)
Please could I also have any horror stories relating to N3 installation - we
had major problems in our area, but the Regional manager I just spoke to was
quite unaware of these issues, and told what a success the rollout had been.
It would appear that his junior staff may have been reluctant to impart bad
news to him....
Please feel free to e-mail me direct on [log in to unmask]
I find it interesting that although there is supposed to be public knowledge
of the throttleback, I have never seen it discussed on an e-mail forum so
far - I could not find any reference to it on gp-uk, for instance.
