Advice was if holidaying then usual duration is up to 3m or whatever
duration prescriber feels able to issue for, before a review was
appropriate.
In reality I prescribe 3m NHS, then depending on drugs/circumstances, up to
3m privately for the subsequent period. Most are BP Rx which we would
naturally review every 6m or so.
Recently I refused to issue more than a month of insulin on basis of
continuing responsibility.
If pt is leaving permanently then NHS obligation is only for 2weeks to allow
FU in new location
Presumably with ETP / pharmacy2u then they can just ask for the drugs to be
sent anywhere in the world
