The stumbling block will be the PMETB (ex JCPTGP) accreditation which he's
very unlikely to get without some time in an NHS training practice. These
are European rules not just UK. He needs to be on a PCT performer's list to
do any general practice in England & equivalent in other countries. He could
do private practice but there is very little about.
He could do something related eg working in a walk-in centre, primary care
stream in A&E or ambulance service (but not doing GP out of hours) but many
of these organisations want experienced NHS GPs.

Subject: Good Canadian doc wants to work short tierm in UK
Hi all
Any thoughts for this colleague (yes, I have asked the question WHY!!?)
He is a good GP by all accounts and does some obstetrics.
I have pointed him to the GMC and RCGP.
Anyone know of any opportunities etc?
Cheers all
Jel

Hi Jel,
As our oldest son begins to approach high school graduation, we are
starting to entertain the idea of working/travelling abroad for six
months or so. This is still two and a half years away, but its not too
early to plan is it?
I’m thinking Africa, but some in my family like the idea of the UK.
Would you have information as to where I might begin to get information
re. working in the UK as a GP (or something closely related)?
Allow me to take this opportunity to wish you and yours all the best
in the new year.
