Position: Regional Geographic Information Analyst
With: Defra Rural Development Service (RDS), Yorkshire and the
Humber Region
Location: Based in RDS Leeds
Status: Permanent
Salary: £20,451 per annum (RDA5)
RDS is working in partnership with English Nature and the Countryside
Agency towards Natural England, a new agency to be established by January
2007. RDS leads in the delivery of advice and funding to agri-environment
and rural development customers under the England Rural Development
Programme (ERDP), including the new Environmental Stewardship scheme.
Working in a small team, you will provide technical input to help develop
and deliver Geographic Information (GI) services to support RDS business in
the region. This will include the capture, analysis and mapping of spatial
data, developing new applications plus providing advice and training in the
use of GI.
You will have extensive practical experience of using GI Systems (GIS),
preferably ESRI products including ArcView and ArcGIS, and a good working
knowledge of Ordnance Survey digital mapping products. You should have
proven GI data handling and analysis skills and a good understanding as to
how GI can support RDS work areas.
