Institute of Engineering Surveying & Space Geodesy
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy (IESSG), at the
University of Nottingham, is Europe's leading academic research institute
in the field of satellite navigation, positioning and tracking technology.
The Institute now has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join
the vibrant and growing research team.
The IESSG has recently been awarded a contract by the Galileo Joint
Undertaking (GJU), as part of a collaborative project led by the University
of Leeds, to develop an innovative receiver for the future 'Galileo'
satellite navigation system. This challenging project aims to develop a
low-cost, low-power receiver that uses only the carrier phase of the
Galileo signals to provide an accurate location. Postdoctoral researchers
are invited to apply to work on the development of novel positioning
concepts for use with this receiver.
Candidates should have a strong mathematical background, the ability to
develop data processing software to rapidly test concepts and algorithms,
and ideally some experience with satellite navigation technology. The
successful candidate will be expected to collaborate as part of a team, and
should have good interpersonal skills.
Salary will be within the range £19,460 - £29,128 per annum, depending on
qualifications and experience. This post will be offered on a fixed-term
contract for a period of one year.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr C J Hill, Principal Research
Officer, tel: 0115 951 3884 or Email: [log in to unmask] Further
information about the IESSG is available at:
