Maidstone Borough Council (Kent) is looking for a person to join our GIS
Operatives team.
Our GIS project is expected to continue until at least the end of April
2006 and we require 1 additional member of staff to join our 4 person
team. The project involves auditing the entire Borough to capture data on
every households bin type, recycling facilities, round number, street
cleansing schedule, street furniture and grounds maintenance.
We are looking for a person who is educated in a GIS related field
(preferably to a degree level) and who preferably has utilised MapInfo.
Work experience is not necessary for this position as we are trying to
offer a introductory job in the GIS industry.
Pay is A5 grade and ranges from £13188 to £14421 per year. As the position
is being offered directly through the Council 22 days annual leave and all
other Council benefits also apply.
We are looking to have the person in post in the first 2 weeks of
September 2005.
1. STATEMENT OF JOB PURPOSE
To be responsible for implementing GIS related tasks that have been set
out by the GIS Team Leader or the GIS Project Manager. These tasks will
include but are not limited to: Data gathering, Data analysis, and Data
maintenance.
2. KEY TASKS
* To be responsible for actioning tasks set out by the GIS project
manager within specified time constraints and budget
* To be responsible for gathering GIS Data both in the field and in
the office from existing maps.
* To be responsible for the entry of the GIS Data that has been
gathered.
* To be responsible for the maintenance of the GIS Data that has
been collected.
* To assist in the introduction of handheld GIS/GPS systems to
internal and external staff.
