How to apply:
•We are seeking an experienced and responsible person to manage the
recently created Corporate Address Gazetteer and to take a lead role in
implementing a Corporate GIS for the council.
The Corporate Address Gazetteer will become the main source of address
information within the council and form a key part of the modernising
government programme. It is also increasingly likely to be used by other
bodies external to the council. The council is also looking to extend and
improve access to map and spatial data by implementing a corporate GIS.
To ensure the success of both of these initiatives the successful candidate
will :
- Work to improve CAG quality;
- develop CAG maintenance and quality management procedures;
- work within a project team to implement a Corporate GIS;
- promote the use of the CAG and GIS across the Council;
- assist in integrating the CAG with other applications;
- develop maintenance processes for geographic information.
The postholder should hold a degree in GIS, Information Management or
related discipline.
Your recent experience should include gazetteer creation and management,
spatial database management, working with ESRI GIS products and Ordnance
Survey mapping products and familiarity with spatial standards such as
BS7666. Project management and supervisory experience is desirable.
