Hi John,
We use a simple surveying technique to establish a local grid using laser rangefinders and combined compass/clinometer survey tools. We use this to reference control points for photogrammetric 3D outcrop imaging. You're welcome to contact me if you need further info.
Cheers,
Klaus

Subject: Field mapping
Re: Address change and query - daily ratesHas anybody on the list had any experience of using laser measuring and gps gear when field mapping? I'm more interested in their use when mapping prospects and sites in the bush rather than around established mines and whether the gear can be carried and operated by one person.
How usable is laser measuring equipment in bright sunlight?
Regards to all,
John
