Applications are invited for the Fixed Term, Part Time post of
Interpretation Officer - Community Development (JE6 £24,030 - £28,550)
(3 days a week from January 2006 up to 30 September 2006)
We are seeking a committed, creative, and experienced Interpretation
Officer to work with London Metropolitan Archives and other London based
archives to manage and deliver a series of themed interpretation projects.
The post of Interpretation Officer - Community Development is part of the
Heritage Lottery Funded Access to Archives project and will focus on
specific collections.
The role of the Interpretation Officer - Community Development will
include:
• Liaising with and managing contributions from partner archives
• Managing production of publicity materials
• The creation of a high quality learning pack for schools
• Administering delivering young people’s activities
• Engaging with teachers and learners to raise awareness of the
learning potential of archives
• Engaging with local community groups
• Assisting with the creation and managing of exhibition material
• Administering and delivering family learning events
The post requires a minimum of three years’ experience in delivering
heritage based learning. A successful track record in working with schools
and community groups is required. The post holder will need excellent
communication skills and sensitivity to the varied needs of project
partners. Being able to work to deadlines is also essential.

which encourages people of all ages and abilities to make full use of
archive collections for their personal enjoyment and interest. We provide
activities for schools, colleges, families and lifelong learners. We work
in partnership with other archives and support similar activities in those
institutions.
