Hi Dave
I have no experince with presentation, but I've been using E-Prime in my
imaging studies. It's got an excellent drag and drop GUI, making it quite
simple for those with little/no programming experience (unlike
presentation, I believe). Also, it's behavioural results viewing software
is very powerful - i would use if just for that. Communication with the
scanner works fine, but it is a little fiddly, depending on your volunteer-
response set up. Basically, telling E-Prime to look for scanner
communication through a given port is quite easy. However, if your
volunteer response box comes through the same port as scanner triggers,
then it's much more fiddly. I then spent a lot of time trying to work out
exactly what information was coming from that port during each volunteer
response box button, and exactly what E-Prime read that as. (Would you have
the same porblem in presentation? I don't know).
If, however, your volunteer resposne box comes through the keyboard, then
you'll have absolutely no problem at all. I'd recommend it (especially for
PhD students just getting to grips with this sort of thing). But, as I say,
I've no point of comparison.
