I have found that Mac updates typically wipe everything under /usr/local
...with 10.4.2 i believe you had the option to do a fresh install
or an archive&update option...
if you chose the latter, you will probably find your /usr/local/bin
hiding in an archived folder on the root level of the drive
(you could try using the fancy new spotlight to find it)
If doing a clean install....I think the only way around this is
to make a tar archive prior to doing the update
no way to go back that i know of...
(but if anyone else does...)
