Abstract :
Network rail have identified that an opportunity exists within their
earthworks portfolio of projects to achieve significant savings. They have
initiated an efficiency project aimed at reducing the overall cost of
earthworks maintenance and renewal through the development of optimising
design criteria around Factors of Safety and implementation of best
practice for an Observational Approach to earthwork schemes.
