Making Learning Count:
For Skills For Life learners, providers and planners
Regional contributions to the work around assessment and achievement in
adult literacy, language and numeracy.
Thursday 7 April 2005, London
This conference aims to bring together some of the ways that different
regions have approached looking at achievement and assessment in working
with offenders, families, second language learners and the voluntary
sector.
If the government's Skills for Life strategy is to succeed, the
achievements recorded need to be meaningful for learners, communities
and employers as well as providers and planners.
The past year has seen a number of publications and events that have
focused on making learning count for learners, practitioners and
planners. Many of the outcomes of this work have been the result of
collaborative work between regional agencies working on the Skills for
Life agenda.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain an overview of this work,
engage in two of nine regional workshops and will be invited to
contribute ideas and opinions to inform and influence future thinking in
this area of work.
Participants will also receive complimentary copies of a selection of
NIACE Regional Achievement Programme material on
* Literacy;
* Language;
* Numeracy;
* Embedded basic skills;
* Working with Skills for Life learners in the voluntary sector.
What people said about the Regional Achievement Programme launch in
April 2004: 'Very interesting and valuable insight into current basic
skills situation' 'Chance to feedback, voice opinion and air views and
