Adding to the superlatives - yes, the site is proving to be incredibly
useful Xavier. I'm teaching at Bradford School of Art - just enrolled a
great group of mature students on to an access course this week, our theme
being the Urban Landscape (we're giving the students your web page details
with orders to have a good look). Next week the BA Fine Art and Art & Design
students arrive. I'm presently rewriting sections of the Drawing modules,
wondering whether to include notions of sound/noise into various exercises.
Have touched upon it in previous sessions but not perused it to any great
extent.
As for BBC's Art School I'm fascinated and repelled in equal measures. I
will of course be viewing it again tonight, and possibly taking notes. A
couple of the drawing ideas have been new to me so far

Hi Xavier, Mike and Gavin,
Xavier - I agree with Gavin, great site. This recent bout of communication
is really well timed for me as I am about to venture into a load of new
work around the 'social' theme. My work is all autobiographical - Narrative,
Landscapes - and Self Portraits. In all of these I explore aspects of the
human condition. However - I want to take it away from how I see myself into
how I see the world - staying with the autobiographical but with commenting
on social, enviromental issues etc.
I am nervous and exited at the same time as I am coming out of a 'box' and
with watching Art School last night and reading about your sketching I am
encouraged to take the plunge.Starting off with sketching - not worrying
about finished work at the mo. I have not really sketched or kept sketch
books for a few years - so I am excited about creative mistakes (unlike
John Humphry's!) and in this department feel a real sense of freedom .
Good luck Gavin with 'sinking your teeth' into something - it's great to
know of other creatives off on a journey as well.
Best Wishes
Emma Davies
