Practice as Research Colloquia Series
Visual Research Centre
Faculty of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design
University of Dundee
The colloquia series aims to promote debate regarding practice-led research in Art, Design and Architecture and methodologies currently being devised and tested within doctoral research projects at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee.
Students from the faculty have been invited to produce a paper and/or demonstration regarding their methodology and to present it alongside a guest speaker from another discipline such as Anthropology, Divinity, Psychology or Genetics. This gives the student the opportunity to further strengthen existing interdisciplinary relationships or found new ones with practitioners from other fields, thereby creating an exciting forum for mutual exchange and dialogue.
Each colloquium follows a similar format with two papers during the morning session and a 'Question Time' style debate in the afternoon with a chaired panel taking questions from the audience. Some colloquia also include practical demonstrations and workshops.
The colloquia are open to all and tickets are free but must be booked in advance at the DCA Box Office on 01382 909 900. Also check our website at www.vrc.dundee.ac.uk for more information about the colloquia or phone the Visual Research Centre on 01382 348064.
