Dear Richard and Leo:
I think, all of this came from another quote atributed to Michelangelo: "The
artist must have the compass in the eye" (which may be very painfull).
Best,
Eduardo

Dear all
I have been one of those silent readers for a long time now
occassionally replying to individual appeals for info. At last I have
have an appeal myself.
I am trying to find out who I can quote as saying 'Drawing is seeing
with a pencil.'or words to that effect. It is an expression I have heard
in various contexts but never knew who one can blame for it.
Hope someone can help.
Richard Hare
