Hello List,
*** All new TASI workshops ***
TASI (JISC's Technical Advisory Service for Images) is pleased to announce
a brand new set of workshops.
Included for the first time in our popular training programme are three
Photoshop workshops and an introduction to Flash animation. We also have a
new 'Building a Departmental Image Collection' workshop for those who wish
to construct and publish simple image collections.
Introduction to Photoshop
19th July 2005
This workshop will introduce Photoshop's interface, tools, basic features
and commands. Technical theory and explanation will be supported through a
range of hands-on activities. This workshop is suitable for anyone who
requires basic image manipulation or optimisation techniques for the
creation of printed and onscreen images. No prior understanding or
experience of digital imaging or image editing applications is required.
Improve your Photoshop Skills
20th July 2005
The aim for this workshop is to build on a working knowledge of Photoshop's
tools and commands for creating and optimising digital images within a
practical context. It is suitable for anyone who has a basic understanding
of Photoshop, but wishes to extend their practical image editing skills and
theoretical knowledge.
Advanced Photoshop Techniques
5th August 2005
This workshop provides a developed understanding of Photoshop's tools and
features for modifying and optimising digital images. It is suitable for
technicians and project staff, who have a good understanding of Photoshop
for creating and preparing digital images, but who wish to fine-tune their
skills. Primarily aimed at those processing colour critical digital images
and those who require sophisticated manipulation techniques.
Building a departmental resource
11th August 2005
This workshop aims to demonstrate the steps for creating, maintaining and
delivering an image collection. Through a range of hands-on activities,
attendees will investigate suitable Image Management Systems (IMS), be
introduced to Metadata, and consider its practical application. It is
suitable for anyone who wishes to construct and publish simple image
collections, including academics, technicians and library staff, who are
developing a departmental resource.
Create and animate vector graphics using Flash
16th September 2005
This workshop will introduce the underlying theory and provide a practical
understanding of the use and properties of vector graphics within the Flash
environment. It is suitable for non-technical professionals, who wish to
create animated graphics for use on the web, or in presentations. This
workshop requires no prior knowledge of using Flash, though some
understanding of digital imaging would be an advantage.
