Participate in Tate’s ‘Our Picture of Britain’ online project - sign up
now!
Dear Teachers,
Tate Learning invites you and your class to register for ‘Our Picture of
Britain’ at http://www.tate.org.uk/learning/apictureofbritain/ourpic.
This exciting online project, which will take place between 6-24 June,
will pair school classes in different regions of Britain and is open to
classes from Key Stages 1 to 3.
Students will collaborate online to learn more about their own area of
Britain and about the area where their partner class is located. They’ll
participate in activities such as sketching the landscapes in their area,
investigating local legends and tales, and creating their own classroom
museum in order to capture the spirit of their region. Then, working
online, they’ll exchange emails and digital photos of their work with
their partner class. Selected work will be featured on the Tate Learning
website.
The sign-up form will be online until the registration deadline of 10 May,
after which time Tate will be pairing up participating classes so they can
begin work on the project in June.
You can register your class at
http://www.tate.org.uk/learning/apictureofbritain/ourpic. If you know of
any teachers that might enjoy this project please let them know about it –
please pass this email on to your colleagues and anyone else you think
might be interested.
And stay tuned for the full e-learning site for the Picture of Britain
exhibition, which will launch on 11 May, and will include a downloadable
Teachers’ Pack, a Games section, and an online learning section called
Heaven and Hell. It will be available at
http://www.tate.org.uk/learning/apictureofbritain to accompany Tate
Britain’s 'A Picture of Britain' exhibition. The exhibition runs from
June 15 to September 4 and will be accompanied by a 6-part BBC TV series.
For information about the exhibition, visit
http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/exhibitions/apictureofbritain/.
Many thanks, and we hope you will sign your class up for ‘Our Picture of
Britain’!
