Dear All
My name is Sarah Lowry and I am emailing from the Evelyn Oldfield Unit. We're running an oral and visual history project, which is aiming to demonstrate the social, cultural and economic contributions that refugees have made to London over the past 50 years.
We are trying to recruit eight fieldworkers who will be based with the refugee communities taking part in the project during 2005 - 6. These are: Eritrean, Ethiopian, Ugandan, Chinese, Roma, Somali, Turkish speaking and Latin American. Applicants will need to speak one of the relevant community languages: Amharic, Spanish, Turkish, Lwo, Swahili, Luganda, Mandarin, Cantonese, Polish, Somali or one of the languages from Eritrea.
The positions are full time for ten months, the salary is £18,000 pro rata, and extensive training in the collection of life histories will be given by London Metropolitan University, one of the project partners. There will also be a placement at the Museum of London.
Last year many people helped to advertise these posts through their networks which was wonderful. If anyone would like more information to forward on then please email me, and I'll send a flyer. If anyone is interested in the posts themselves, then please email me at this address, or call Sarah or Jess on 020 7700 0100 x 414 or 143. The closing date is 11 July at 12pm.
With many thanks and best wishes
Sarah Lowry
