Sorry, but you are confusing some basic Fortran concepts, and I cannot
really respond with a full explanation. ( A==B==C ) is an expression.
A=B
is a statement, known as the assignment statement, and
A=B=C
is definitely not allowed. This is not C, it is Fortran :-)
A=(B==C)
is however (well, depending on the type of A).
