Yes. See the dl library on Unix systems (and some sample code in my
previous posting). It is my understanding that WIndows dlls are roughly
comparable, though I don't work much on that side.
Handy and portable - no, we don't have that. But the underlying
capabilities do exist and have for a long time. I think that progress
is being made on the handy and portable part, though it is slow. F2003
procedure pointers are a small, but important step in the direction.
