Dear friends of Q
You are warmly invited to attend the launch of our latest exhibition in Q
Gallery this Friday 11 November at Q Arts - Gallery: 6.30pm - 8.30pm
N E T : R E A L I T Y
Exhibition of newly commissioned Internet and New
Media artworks by artists exploring physical and digital space:
Simon Biggs, Glorious Ninth, Neil Jenkins,
Jessica Loseby, Michael Takeo Magruder,
Stanza and Michael Szpakowski.
Blurring the boundary between the physical gallery space and live work on
the web, Net:Reality promises to merge the ethereal notions of cyber space
with the aesthetics of a physical exhibition. Seven artists have been
selected as key practitioners engaged in Internet based working. Each artist
has been commissioned to create a new artwork that exists both virtually and
physically.
The artists in Net:Reality have created varied and interactive work that
deals with broad ranging and global issues. Michael Takeo Magruder tackles
the iconic nature of mass media and global communication by digitally
distorting front pages of international editions of the BBC internet news
service. Stanza and Simon Biggs explore the subvergence of surveillance.
Jessica Loseby investigates the absurd compatibility between the digital and
the domestic, contrasting the cyber age with her role as a mother.
We look forward welcoming you here soon.
