Just to you know that the Inclusive Views awards application has
been extended to 14th October: we are looking for inclusive design and
learning ideas to take to market, particularly digital materials, hardware
and software. For more information, please see below:
NESTA and Inclusive Technology Limited are pleased to announce a unique
opportunity for the advancement of Inclusive Design in the UK. New ideas
are called for via an online submission, and four will be judged by an
expert panel for support and development for one year. An exciting second
stage arrangement will see Inclusive Technology taking between two to four
of the ideas to market, bringing their many skills to bear on hardware and
software ideas that will be sold through their extensive networks.
NESTA involvement seeks to learn from these ideas: to tease out how
inclusive practice is supported from innovative, sensory based learning
approaches. Teachers, design graduates, parents and students are
encouraged to submit a new idea, that could be worked on over one year
with professional support. The second stage ideas will be brought to
market and will generate unique learning (and revenue for the teams) which
will provide models for others to share.
What is inclusive design? Simply put, it is learning materials that have a
number of possibilities "built in." It could be a number of access methods
(for example, keyboard AND mouse to access software), and a number of
outcomes, such as materials to hear, see and touch. We are looking for new
and experimental, innovative approaches to the subject- from just an idea
through to more developed ideas. We encourage partnerships, looking to
support something new that has not been tried before.
What is on offer? Up to £22,000 per project, for one year, with a chance
that it would be taken forward for a second year with Inclusive
Technology, our partners. They will be able to offer graphic design
expertise, programming support, access to networks of teachers,
occupational therapists and physiotherapists. They have project management
experience that see your idea given the best chance to flourish.
The next step would be to have a look at the background supporting
material on the website, and check out the dates for submission. Then we
need you to work on the idea to prepare it for a judging panel who will
make the awards at the end of September.
