Do you know I forgot about truth
.
Now you have reminded me, all my difficulties have vanished
As you say, nothing else needs saying
except... well I understand why you put truth in quotes; you want, I
suppose, to say that this is the same truth as you were talking about; but
why have you put reality in "quotes"?
whom are you quoting?
"or" "do" you mean that it "isn't" reality as such? is it perhaps a platonic
reality?
it seems to be rather "complicated" despite you saying it is simple
> There are different styles and ways, but when something is done well it's
set apart from something that isn't.
in what way? set apart by what? or set apart in whose eyes?
> Just because something isn't accessible to me at a particular time
doesn't
mean i don't consider it worth 'being out there' - eg Shakespeare, who
currently i neither actively focus on nor am consciusly inspired by the idea
of settling down to read, has been an integral part of my development along
the way and i know can be for others...so the fact that it is not where i am
at now, is of little bearing on it's relevance to other people at different
places in their path.
fine
> But we have to remember that the bad defines the good,
how do you work that out? not that we have to remember it but that bad
defines good - and is this in poetry or in everything?
> and without it the
Heaneys and the Hendrixes wouldn't stand out as they do.
the only thing that stands out for me about Heaney is that he is so
overrated; so I am somewhat underwhelmed by that as a clincher
>inspires us
you believe in inspiration then? something or someone breathes into you?
> a natural
gravitation
what is that?
>
He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise
William Blake - a poet
well, you can't go far wrong with a good Blake quote
but with all due respect, I don't find any of that very helpful either in my
own thinking or trying to understand what my colleague was saying; but my
questions are serious; if you want to discuss things, that is
