Hi Peter
We've the same problem at Cardonald. I've taken the easy option and removed the tables from the Word Document. I've found that by using the "text through" option to format images there is more control over the final HTML output. Although that of course doesn't solve the problem if you need tables to format text.
Cheers
Kenny

Subject: Coursegenie
In units produced with coursegenie we have recently found that blank cells
within tables display the character "Â". It also appears before the "£"
sign. This only happens after they have been uploaded to Blackboard.
Previewing the HTML pages in a browser, they are fine. The problem occurs
with Internet Explorer and Firefox, and happens on our network and stand-
alone machines. Also happens from outside the college.
Coursegenie's support suggest that this is due to character encoding -
coursegenie uses UTF-8 and if the browser is set to use another format, or
is being instructed by the software or server to use another format, this
could cause this to happen.
The fact that this has started to happen only recently makes me wonder if
it has anything to do with recent hotfixes. We have raised it with
Blackboard to see what they say. It certainly didn't happen before, and we
can't see any reason locally why the character encoding should have
changed.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has seen this. Even more
interested of course in what they did to fix it!
Thanks
