Hi
We use the snapshot to create new courses every semester, based on a a
template course that varies per department. In this template course, the
default menu items, and even some items and folders have been created.
Instructors are then supposed to use the copy course function (or copy
item per item if they wish) to fill their new course. They use the
option "copy into existing course", since the new/empty course is
considered an existing course by Bb. This is sometimes a bit confusing
since the instructors don't consider this new course as an existing one.
But by disabling the other copy functions, you force them into the right
direction...
Our course IDs consist of codes for department, period, course code,
etc.
If you want more specifics, let me know.

Subject: Rollover Strategy
Hi All
As most of you know, we've been using Bb Basic at Luton since 2002 and
we've been rolling sites over at turn of semester by doing a copy to new
course and changing the cosde to reflect (so currently e.g.
05-06s1XYZ35-1). All very labour-intensive.
We're about to upgrade to Enterprise and integrate with SITS using
Snapshot for February. What I'd like to ask about is the general
tendency for all you experienced Enterprise Snapshotters with regard to
rollover. I know some places expect their academics to be grown up and
take charge of their content by exporting completed sites and then
importing package. This is beginning to look attractive to me,
especially as we have had some strange content/site disappearances
recently following a bit of upgrading....
So, if you could spare me a few moments, what's your rollover strategy?
