1. Do you use Blackboard simply as a VLE?
Yes but BB is fully integrated into our MLE
2. Do you use of Blackboard as a component of an MLE?
Yes
3. If you are using it as part of an MLE, are the course 'containers'
created automatically?
Yes
4. If you are using it as part of an MLE, are students and tutors
automatically assigned to their courses?
Students are automatically assigned on enrolment within our Student Management System, and automatically removed on completion within Student system.
Staff self enrol as tutors on courses - this works on the basis of trust, there are no security restrictions (apart from them having to be staff)

Subject: Blackboard & MLEs
Dear All,
I'm interested in finding out more about how institutions are using
Blackboard with regards to Managed Learning Environments (MLEs). I wonder
if you'd care to answer the following questions? You can send me your
responses directly and I'd be glad to share my findings with the group at a
later stage. My interest is not restricted to Blackboard and I will be
contacting other VLE user groups as part of my study. Again, I am happy to
share the results of those surveys.
