We were just about to upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3.x last week when yet another
message hit the US Bb list suggesting there were still some serious issues
so we decided to hold off until Christmas.

Subject: AP3 Regrets?
Now that we are all hopefully past the start-of-semester rush and have time
to reflect back a little, are those of you who upgraded to AP3 and/or
AP3-SP1 still happy with that decision?
<RANT BEGINS>
Originally, I loved the benefits gained when we upgraded to AP3 and
appreciated many of the fixes from SP1. Lately, I'm beginning to question
this decision. Now, either our faculty seem to be more vocal about their
bug reporting, or there are just many more noticeable bugs to report. Some
of our earliest issues have been resolved quickly by Blackboard (i.e.. the
removing users bug, unable to copy items bug, etc.). Others have had
tickets open for several weeks with no solution other than "... wait for SP2
in November." November?!!!? This was August!!!
We are currently plagued by:
* Sorting Gradebook Items - duplicate numbers
* Sorting Assessment Items - random ordering, can't move question #1,
"insert here" = insert where?
* Email Attachments - sender's file path being appended to filename,
longer file names causing errors
* Exporting Question Pools - can't be done
* Import Questions from Surveys - can't be done. You can import test
and pool questions into a survey, but you can't import a survey question
into anything other than another survey.
* Discussion Board Breadcrumb - links missing
* Assessment Questions - random answers have paragraph markers around
the HTML causing extraneous blank lines
* Course Statistics - numbers in each column don't add up (7+2+3+1
doesn't equal 11!!!!)
* Content System Vulnerability - BB did nothing but close the ticket
* Default Layout - no longer updates existing user's portal modules
layout
* Response Issues - while most of our uses say that Blackboard is much
"faster" now, I'm also getting dozens more "Page Not Found" reports each day
when I rarely got them before. (Yes, this might not necessarily be AP3
related, but it sure is a darn strange coincidence.)
I'm really beginning to wonder if AP3 is simply a public BETA for Blackboard
7 next month! This is especially strange considering SP2 is being released
a month AFTER ver 7 debuts.

Hi there,
blackboard Tec support have advised that the solution to an issue I
asked about on this list earlier this week is to move from 6.2.3 to
6.3.1.424.
When I attended an event in Northampton earlier this year when 6.3 was
very new, it was felt that no one would go to this version until its
stability had been shown to be OK.
Does anyone have any experience with the version mentioned and can
comment please?
