Hello all,
First of all, I apologize if this message is intrusive or unwanted. I am a
Blackboard support specialist in the US who is going to move to Birmingham
in September, and am eager to find out any opportunities that may be
available to me in the area's educational technology job field. A person
at Blackboard, Inc. in London recommended that I join this list and "test
the waters," to hopefully find out more information and to and meet
potential colleagues. I hope that no one finds this message inappropriate.
As I said, I am a US citizen moving to Birmingham come September. I have
recently attained a Master of Science in Educational Technology, and have
been working as Blackboard Assistance for the past 3 years at a university
of about 18,000 students. This involves support and troubleshooting of all
kinds to students and faculty on Bb5 and Bb6, as well as a range of other
computer and software questions. I feel that I am a qualified individual
and that I do very well at all that I do, but my need for a work permit
makes my UK job search fairly difficult. I need all the help I can get in
this respect.
I am greatly hoping that anyone on this mailing list has advice or
direction for me. I have already researched work permits thoroughly- what
I am seeking now are opportunities in the Birmingham commute area, or a
telecommute position. I know that Aston University uses Blackboard, but I
am not sure what other universities, textbook publishers, or companies in
the area use Blackboard or may have need of an educational technologist. I
am diligently watching job sites and vacancy postings, but I appreciate
any help that anyone is willing to give.
Rather than clutter the mailing list, I ask that anyone who wishes to
contact me do so at [log in to unmask] I am happy to answer questions,
send a basic CV, and of course receive any help that I can get.
Thank you,
Amanda Hardy
