Hi,
I have been asked for information on the use of radio microphones and Dragon naturally Speaking.
The client is a wheel chair user - using a chin joystick. There is no effective use of the hands.
At the moment a desk microphone is being used. However the patients voice is getting weaker and is experiencing difficulties in maintaining the appropriate volume, especially when getting tired.
The request is for a radio microphone. I did experiment with a Plantronic M3000 Bluetooth headset. This communicated ok with the computer but the quality of the sound was not acceptable unless the microphone element was directly in front of the mouth. I did not investigate the issues of ensuring that it was always on as the patient would not be able to activate the on/off switch.
The basic criteria for a wireless system are for
an operating life of about 8 hours
hands free operation.
Comfort over several hours
Can anyone advise?
Thanks,
Matthew Pepper
