I would guess, judging by our experience in Wales, that people rarely
actively turn down the opportunity to at least try EAT, even if they
eventually decide it is not for them. It is far more likely that in
general they are simply unaware of the technology. Of course, this is
less likely to . That also goes for their carers and often associated
professionals. That is, need is very much the issue as opposed to demand.
There have been a variety of international papers over the last 10 years
suggesting that the need for EAT (of all forms) ranges between 1.1% and
1.5% of the population.
