I am contacting several consultancies directly, and also posting messages
where I can on the internet, to invite expressions of interest in carrying
out consultancy work for Lancashire Record Office to prepare Audience
Development and Access Plans.
We have received Project Planning Grant funding from the Heritage Lottery
Fund to carry out this work to support the submission of a large scale
capital bid for the redevelopment of the existing Record Office, located
in central Preston. I attach copies of the project briefs for the two
plans, and also a set of drawings of the present Record Office
arrangements, which might be of particular relevance in connection with
the Access Plan.
We are keen to move forward as quickly as possible with this work, and
would ask you to respond to us by Monday 16 January of you are interested
in carrying out this project. The intention is to shortlist 2 – 3
consultancies to make a detailed presentation of their proposals at the
Record Office, probably on Friday 27 January.
If you know of a consultant who might be interested in this work, please
pass this message on to them. Conversely, if you are a consultant who
might be interested, please contact me for copies of the project briefs.
You may also find it useful to visit our website
(www.archives.lancashire.gov.uk). To receive copies of the briefs contact
me either by email at [log in to unmask] or by telephone on
01772 533026. I will be on leave from 23 December until 2 January
inclusive, although my emails will be picked up.
I hope you will be interested in this opportunity. We aim to develop this
Record Office into new areas of activity, in radical ways if that is what
emerges as appropriate at the end of the project, and are looking for
consultants who will both support and challenge us in this process.
