Dear listmembers,
This material (see photos), dated to the fourth century AD, was found in the river Meuse at Cuyk (prov. Limburg) near a Roman bridge, together with leaves of oak and other trees.
We identified it tentatively as Juniperus sabina.
Since we do not have sufficient reference material of this species, I would like to ask whether anyone can confirm this identification, and whether there are other records of this species from Roman contexts in northwestern Europe.
Thanks in advance,
JP
